in the following I show you some impressions from our fantastic week-end with Jiri in Budweis:
On Saturday morning we were starting with a visit of the Budweis – brewery.
Millions of bottles as well as these nice copper containments for the malt-water-whatever mix where waiting for us.
Our guide explained to us how the malt-water-whatever mix becomes beer and showed us some old tools in the art of brewing.
Afterwards we were spending our time tasting the different types of beer discussing about our favorites. I liked PARDAL (also a brand of Budweiser) the most, haven’t seen them here, the six bottles I took with me are already empty, so you need to ask Jiri to bring some if you want to taste.
After having enjoyed the Bohemian food the first time (in total we had wonderful meat–sauce–Knödel dishes three times in one and a half days and this is not the total truth) Jiri showed the city to us:
The city hall at the impressing and huge and square market place,
Maria and I liked this masks in a façade of a mediaval building a lot.
And a wonderful cloistered courtyard with original paintings.
On the way back it was a must to visit the UNESCO-listed Krumau near the Bohemian Forest. As I’ have the impression that the rain is following me pretty accurate in the last weeks (it’s raining now in Bern) it was raining, when we had our walk through this fantastically preserved, even though very touristic, place.
On the picture you see a four level bridge connecting two parts of the castle of Krumau. You need to pass by if you are in the area.
We decided to take the way back through the Bohemian Forest. Again a good hint of Jiri – nice landscape, good food(!), no sun. You know this story of a man, who drove in a river because the navigator didn’t show the ferry passage. …could have happened to us also.
It was a very good week-end. Thanks Jiri.
